We włoskim mieście Arco już po raz 31 spotkali się miłośnicy królewskiej gry z różnych zakątków świata, aby zmierzyć swe siły w tradycyjnym "openie". W turnieju zabrakło "wielkich" nazwisk, ale stawka uczestników była bardzo wyrównana. Spowodowało to ogromny ścisk w górnej części końcowej tabeli. Ostatecznie aby wskoczyć  na "pudło" trzeba było zdobyć 7 punktów z 9 partii. Ta sztuka udała trójce zawodników, którzy zostali sklasyfikowani w nastepującej kolejności:

1. IM H.Van Riemsdijk BRA, 2. GM K.Arakhamia-Grant SCO, 3. GM E.Rozentalis LTU.

O pół punkta mniej miała w końcowym rozrachunku duża grupa szachistów, z której najwyżej uplasowali się:

4. GM I.Naumkin RUS, 5.IM G.Borgo ITA i 6. GM Z.Franco Ocampos PAR.
